Go Go Gaga & Guinness

It doesn’t surprise me that the first celeb to sport a pair of Alexander McQueen's crazy Spring/Summer 2010 shoes (otherwise known as the armadillos, crabs' claws or goats' feet by some sections of the press) is Lady Gaga.

The always-dramatic Gaga dons a sequined pair of the 12 inch heels in the music video for her new single, Bad Romance, which by the way is AHHHHHHMAZING!

Catch the video after the jump...

But it was heiress, muse, and couture collector, Daphne Guinness, who was brave enough to wear the shoes for the first time in public and on a red carpet for NARs' 15th anniversary party in New York City on November 12, 2009.

Of course, Daphne took it to the next level and committed to the whole space-age ensemble even though the shoes would have made a major statement on their own. Still, kudos to her for being such a fabulous fashion plate.

FYI: These heels aren't actually for sale, although that doesn't mean there aren't women willing to buy them. Apparently the company has been flooded with calls requesting these crazy shoes, which McQueen hadn't planned to release for retail. There's a chance that the runway footwear will be put up for auction so if you want to snag a pair, I suggest you keep your eyes peeled and your ears open.

Just A Kiss

Here we have Anja Rubik with her Austrian God, top male model, Sasha Knezevic, strolling through Jardin des Tuileries, Paris during Paris Fashion Week.

Even amidst the gruelling schedule of shows, the lack of sleep, the pain of wounded feet, and the hordes of paparazzis and style bloggers, Anja still found time to fit in a little romance.

Style Ride

I believe that hailing a cab in a rush hour situation is still best achieved with a bold statement, i.e. good old power dressing and statement accessories.

My Style To A Tee

The always chic and ever so fabulous French Vogue editor, Carine Roitfeld, arrives at the Balmain Pret a Porter show as part of the Paris Womenswear Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 on October 1, 2009 at Intercontinental Paris Grand Hotel in Paris, France.

Her outfit, her poker straight hair, her Azzedine Alaia lace up sandals, and even her stance...all scream power and perfection.

I'm In Love....

...with these absolutely breathtaking Valentino heels from the Spring/Summer 2010 collection. I’m seriously considering bouncing a month’s rent and starving myself just to pay for them.

I look at this shoe and see a fairy tale in the making...like I know my life will be better once I have them.

The Stone Age

Dutch model, Lara Stone graces the cover and inside pages of Vogue UK's December 2009 issue wearing some of the most gorgeous dresses I have ever seen by Dior, Valentino and Dolce & Gabbana.

Photographed by Mario Testino and styled by Lucinda Chambers, Stone has been called 'girl of the year' by Vogue UK.

In the editorial 'Stone Age,' Lara reveals for the first time publicly that she spent four weeks earlier this year in rehab. 'I am a complete alcoholic. It used to be so easy to say to someone, 'Get me a bottle of vodka,' and they'd run and get it. Going to rehab was the best decision I ever made. The last six months have been the best of my life.'

A week after she left rehab, she was back in the game, attending the Costume Institute Gala in early May with Alexander Wang. 'I sat there all night in complete shock. I didn't say a word.'

She's been doing the model rounds for ten years, since she was 15 but says that even back when she was 16 and in living in Paris, drugs weren't a problem. 'I'd already tried everything in Holland. Anyway, I never wanted to be that model on drugs, the sort who gives head for a line of coke.'

But she doesn't seem to mind going topless all the time for magazines. 'Everyone's seen them. My girlfriends love them — they play with them!'

I guess that's how the Dutch do.

A Purse That Will Outlive You

Anndra Naan is a genius. She’s created a stunning studded metal clutch to withstand almost anything.

This hammered silver clutch with gold embellishment has a spring hinge that closes the top flap...and with pyramid stud details adorning the back, I think it might even look better once it gets banged-up a little.

So while you've always been taught to take care of your precious things, let yourself off the hook a little and get drunk or fall down....because this purse can handle it.

How Real Models Do

As you can see, not much has changed since these supermodels, Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen, Claudia Schiffer, first appeared on the scene 20 years ago.

Here they are gracing the cover of the winter edition of i-D magazine. It’s timeless....just like them.

No wonder they managed to keep themselves at the top of the heap for so long.

It's On With Alexa Chung

Here’s a preview of former model now MTV talk show host, Alexa Chung in V Magazine’s issue #62 hitting newsstands November 3rd.

The 'Let’s Talk About Alexa Chung' spread was photographed by Sharif Hamza and styled by Catherine Newell-Hanson.

In the issue, she talks about her daily grind and her move from the UK to NYC to save MTV. Her show, 'It’s On with Alexa Chung' took over the coveted TRL spot this summer.

Some snippets of her interview with Derek Blasberg:

On whether she will return to the UK once her MTV gig is over: 'I don’t know. I went to a wedding last weekend [in England] and when I got back here I was quite relieved to be home in New York. Whoa, I guess that’s the first time I actually said that and meant it "Home In New York.'

On making new friends: 'I don’t really have any friends in America. Well, I have some friends. ….. I just don’t tolerate douche bags. You get them in England too, those people who just sort of hang out and hold coats or something. But there’s more of them here.'

On her new apartment: 'I think my apartment is too shiny. I just found out that (Vampire Diaries‘ Ian Somerhalder) used to live in it. And the other day when I was in the laundry room, I heard that Michael Douglas’ son is looking to move into the building.'

Beware: Model Unleashed

Model, Natasa Vojnovic, in a photo shoot shot by Terry Richardson in Diane Von Furstenberg’s meatpacking-district headquarters for Purple Fashion magazine #11.

Known for her very, well, distinct modeling style (screaming, spinning, crawling), Natasa remains serious and fierce the entire time.

What an artist!

Haute Desperation

Purple Magazine is no stranger to bit of a shocker like nudity on their covers, but rarely do you see a man on his knees like this.

The issue is from fall/winter 2008 with famed photographer, Mario Sorrenti and ex-girlfriend Kate Moss.

I love this cover so much for the following reasons:
1. Moss is wearing Balmain
2. Mario Sorrenti is naked
3. You can’t see Moss’ face

Portrait of a Porn King?

Following my last post regarding the oh-so beautiful Mario Sorrenti in the Autoportraits editorial, also featured in the same editorial was the king of sleaze and bad boy photographer, Terry Richardson who shot and co-starred in it alongside model, Anna Selezneva.

If you can try and focus only on the watches for a moment, the Rolex Daytona is definitely worth a good look (last photograph).

Karl & The Clog

In 1952, we saw the invention of the stiletto heel which was first seen on the DIOR runway. That same year, we also saw the first Hermes bag (known as the Grace Kelly bag) being carried around. Now, we are about to witness something extraordinary....the rebirth of The Clog. The last time the clog had any degree of notoriety was in 1965. It was amusing, it was unusual, but it certainly wasn’t chic.

Karl Lagerfield, head designer and creative director for the fabulous fashion house, Chanel, showcased an array of chic clogs at his spring 2010 runway show on October 6, 2009 in Paris. They were sweet, wholesome, and practical. I'd give my right arm for the black studded pair.

Whether you love or loathe this trend, these Dutchy chunky woody heels are making a wild comeback so don’t be too surprised if you start seeing your friends and myself clip-clopping around the city in them.

Even the most fashion forward stars like Mary-Katy and Ashley Olsen have been rocking The Clog as far back as 2008.
